On June 11th, my Boston Terrier Barney, had a horrific accident in which he jumped into an under ground silo. It was a fall of about 13 feet onto concrete. We rushed him out to Dr. Arnold-Galon who was not even supposed to be working at the time. She did his ex-rays and discovered he broke at least one, if not both of his front legs in the worst spot possible as far as difficulty in repairing. She then did her best with what she had on hand to stabilize him and get him comfortable.
The morning after she contacted every surgery center in the state she could think of and was left with only two options for who could perform this difficult surgery. Both of which would cost over $10,000 to repair his legs. My wife and I had a long discussion and were horrified to come to the conclusion that we simply couldn’t afford it. Instead of giving up on us, Dr. Arnold reached out to Dr. Tracey Dulak who started a Foundation called the Lucky Paw Foundation out of Harbor Springs. They reward families in dire need of financial assistance in situations like ours when it means loosing a pet due to lack of funds or giving them a chance at a full recovery. Dr. Arnold, submitted an application on our behalf and was able to get half of his surgery covered. Barney would not be here with us if it weren’t for both of these Doctors.
